Bo Mohlin – 4 decades of handmade reel building

Bo Mohlin (1944 ~2023) was a fully qualified engineer and avid fly fisherman. He lived in the south of Sweden, in a small town close to the famous river Em. (Emån in Swedish) In 1981, he was fishing with a Bogdan reel and his friend asked if he could also have one. That proved to be impossible, so Bo decided to make him a reel. That was easier said than done since Bo did not have the proper tools. However, after a long hard struggle, the first Mohlin reel was created in August 1981.

Much has changed since those days and Bo Mohlin had developed his own unique style of reels over the last 40 years using the finest materials and manual tools. (No CNC machines.)
